THUNDER BAY, ON, --- October,  15, 2008 -- Over 2,000 people dropped by the new Downtown Artisans & Farmers Market when it opened its doors on Saturday, October 4th at 507 E. Victoria Avenue.  The year-round market will be continue to be open Saturdays from 9 am to 4 pm and Sunday afternoons in November and December and feature fresh local produce, freshly prepared foods and the work of local artisans.

Business owners and others in the downtown Fort William neighbourhood were instrumental in helping get the market established and donated thousands of hours of volunteer labour, supplies and equipment to help make it happen.

With the market expected to draw large weekly crowds, the positive spin-offs for neighbouring shops and restaurants will give the area a much needed boost.

Paul Morralee visited the market on October 11th and produced a video which captures the vision, excitement and sense of community that is driving the Downtown Market.
