THUNDER BAY, ON, -- January 31, 2009 --- The much anticipated announced on the location of the new Thunder Bay District Court House is expected to be announced Monday afternoon. The Deputy Premier, and Minister of Energy and Infrastructure George Smitherman, Attorney General Chris Bentley, Thunder Bay-Superior North MPP Michael Gravelle and Thunder Bay-Atikokan MPP Bill Mauro will be making an important announcement about the provision of modern, accessible and efficient court services for the Thunder Bay region.
The announcement will be made at a press conference at the Ontario Court of Justice Court house on East Arthur St. It is expected that the proposed Court House will be located in the area between Miles street and Victoria Ave and between Brodie Streets and Archibald Street..
Diane Petryna, owner, Take A Hike, as a business owner, and promoter of downtown revitalization efforts, stated, "I eagerly await Minister Smitherman's anticipated announcement about the location and construction of a new provincial courthouse. By locating the courthouse downtown, the City and Province will be sending a strong signal throughout the community positive change is possible when we all work together."
