No To Condo's Marina Park

February 7, 2008 ~ Thunder Bay ~ At the community meeting on the evening of Tuesday , close to 300 attendees supported the principle of “No to condos, private residences and hotels in Marina Park”. Algoma Central Railway receives $4.2 million in operating funding

Sunday, 28 October 2007 The Trout Lake Learning Centre has announced two new initiatives. JP Fraser states, "We have received funding to hire an intern to do McIntyre Superior Rainbow Study The goal of the study is to enhance to overall environmental quality of the McIntyre River system, including the protection and development of urban fisheries by discovering the cause of the decline in the numbers of rainbow trout returning to Trout Lake via the McIntyre River to spawn". more....>

 Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area

The largest freshwater marine protected area in the world is being set up off the northern shores of Lake Superior, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced on Thursday.

The national marine conservation area will encompass more than 10,000 sq. km (3,900 sq. miles) of Lake Superior, the biggest of the Great Lakes, including lake bed, islands and north shorelands.  Minnesota State reports rare death from human rabies

October 23, 2007 Minnesota’s second case of human rabies in seven years has prompted state health officials to remind Minnesota residents to seek immediate medical attention if they have had contact with a bat. A man in his 40s who was exposed to a bat in north-central Minnesota in mid-August died Saturday, Oct. 20, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) reported today. more info ......>

Kristi Neilsen was photographed for "Welcome: Portraits of America" - a seven-minute film and hundreds of still images, featuring American people from all regions and walks of life - while on assignment as a Park Ranger at the Grand Canyon. Kristi was recently promoted to Education Specialist and moved to the Sitka National Historic Park in Alaska.
